Fish is a healthy food and good for your health in many ways. Many studies has given variable evidences and others are ongoing.

It is loaded with important nutrients, such as Omega 3 fatty acid , protein and vitamin D.

Fish is also the world’s best source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are incredibly important for your body and brain.

Omega-3 fatty acid  – body need these fatty acids to function, they deliver some health benefits.

Non Veg Sources: Primarily found in certain fish.

EPA and DHA

Veg sources : Nuts and Seeds.

ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), another omega-3 fatty acid, is found in plant sources.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF FISH:

1. Reduces Triglyceride -Omega−3 fatty acids reduce blood triglyceride levels but do not significantly change the level of LDL cholesterol or HDL cholesterol in the blood.

2. Reduce Blood Pressure -Evidence suggests that omega−3 fatty acids modestly lower blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) in people with hypertension and in people with normal blood pressure.

3. Omega−3 fatty acid supplementation for at least a year may be protective against cardiac death, sudden death, and myocardial infarction in people who have a history of cardiovascular disease.

4.Reduce Inflammation – Helps in Asthma .  Consumption of omega−3 fatty acids from marine sources lowers blood markers of inflammation such as C-reactive protein, interleukin 6, and TNF alpha.

5.Helps in Rheumatoid arthritis : The American College of Rheumatology has stated that there may be modest benefit from the use of fish oils, but that it may take months for effects to be seen, and cautions for possible gastrointestinal side effects and the possibility of the supplements containing mercury or vitamin A at toxic levels.

6.Helps in Depression:   Some researchers have found that cultures that eat foods with high levels of omega-3s have lower levels of depression. Fish oil also seems to boost the effects of antidepressants and may help the depressive symptoms of bipolar disorder.

7.Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Some research suggests that omega-3s may help protect against Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and have a positive effect on gradual memory loss linked to aging. But that’s not Confirmed , needs further study for this.

8.Fish is Good Dietary Source of Vitamin D 

9.Fish may Reduced Risk of Autoimmune Diseases, Including Type 1 Diabetes.

EGGS and Omega 3 Fatty Acids:

Eggs produced by hens fed a diet of greens  contain higher levels of omega−3 fatty acids than those produced by chickens fed corn or soybeans.
